Akhilesh Yadav criticizes BJP's corruption and lack of development, citing internal unrest and a viral video highlighting governance issues in Uttar Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday criticised the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government accusing it of rampant corruption and lack of development.

Speaking to the media persons at the ‘1108 Kundiya Mahayajna’ held at Boarding Maidan in Kannauj on Wednesday, Akhilesh said that despite the state government’s claims of achievements as it marks eight years in power, corruption has reached unprecedented levels. He also highlighted that even BJP lawmakers are now demanding change within the party.

Akhilesh, after visiting the Yajnashala remarked, “BJP’s own MLAs are openly saying that they want change. Even the chief minister now sees his chair under threat.

One MLA, who is very close to Delhi, has directly said that if officials have any honour, they should come forward and speak.” Yadav did not name the MLA but hinted at internal unrest within the ruling party.

In addition to these comments, Akhilesh referred to a viral video of a legislator from Basti who expressed frustration at the extent of corruption under the current government.

The SP leader also criticised the BJP’s claims of progress, asking, “The government has been in power for eight years and still, it is unable to address the issues faced by the public.”

In a rather unusual development, an IAS officer is reportedly on the run, drawing further attention to the state’s governance issues, he said adding that it is a historic moment as it would be the first time in the country’s history where a government celebrates its achievements while one of its own senior bureaucrats remains underground.

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the attack on the house of party MP Ramji Suman in Agra by members of the Karni Sena and others was because of his Dalit identity.

“He (Suman) is a Dalit, and that is why this attack was carried out,” Akhilesh Yadav said. Suman had recently sparked controversy by likening Rana Sanga to a traitor.

Akhilesh also remarked, “We should not turn the pages of history, but whenever the BJP has done so, it has been for the sake of hatred and political gains.”
