42 more samples test negative for Nipah in Kerala

Health officials in the Indian state of Kerala have received some relief as 42 additional samples, including those from high-risk individuals with symptoms, have tested negative for the Nipah virus. Six cases of the virus have been reported in the state, with two deaths and four individuals currently under treatment. The health department is working to identify and track the contacts of infected individuals, with assistance from the police. The outbreak has prompted inspections and studies by central health officials and research institutions to determine any ecological changes since the 2018 Nipah outbreak.
