Posing as cab driver and passengers, three rob man at gunpoint in Greater Noida

Two men who allegedly robbed a 30-year-old Farrukhabad-based man at gunpoint in Greater Noida’s Dadri locality on July 30 were arrested after a gunfight on Sunday, said police officers, adding that two pistols and ₹32,000 cash were recovered from their possession.

The complaint in this case was registered by a friend of the man who was robbed, identified as Akash Kumar.
“On July 30, Akash, who works at a mobile manufacturing company in Noida, was going to Amethi Kohna village, his home town. While waiting for a bus at the Dadri bus stop at 7am, a cab stopped in front of him, and the driver offered him a ride,” said the complainant, who declined to be identified.
“At the same time, two more men, who were also waiting at the bus stop, approached Akash and asked about his destination. The cab driver then offered the three of them a low-cost ride,” the complainant added.
“Akash then boarded the cab, which drove to an isolated location. There, his two co-passengers and the driver assaulted him, took his mobile phone, and ₹20,000. They forced him to reveal his UPI ID password at gunpoint and transferred all his savings ( ₹45,000),” said the complainant, adding, “As they crossed the Dadri toll plaza, they threw him out of the moving car and fled the scene. Later, Akash was able to contact his family members via a toll plaza employee’s mobile phone.”
Three days later, Akash approached the police, and on Saturday, a case of loot was registered at Dadri police station.
“While investigating, we received a tip-off that the suspects were passing through Ajayabpur in Greater Noida. When we tried to apprehend them, they fired at us. We fired in retaliation, and the suspects sustained bullet injuries on their legs and were apprehended,” said Sarthak Senghar, assistant commissioner of police Zone-2, Greater Noida.
“The suspects have been identified as Javed alias Jabar, and Javed. At least 22 cases were registered against Jabar and seven cases against Javed,” said ACP Senghar, adding, “During the investigation, they revealed that they had targeted many passengers using the same modus operandi. Efforts are underway to apprehend their third accomplice.”
