Noida, Greater Noida to set up waste-to-energy plant

Noida and Greater Noida authorities have agreed to establish a 30-acre waste-to-energy plant in Astoli, India, to treat waste from the twin cities. National Thermal Power Corporation and Indo Environ Integrated Solutions have been engaged to construct the facility, which will have the capacity to recycle 1,110 metric tonnes of waste daily, and produce compressed gas and green charcoal. The plant is expected to be operational within 18 months. The two authorities will not take any profit from the venture.
