Slab collapse, landslide, tree fall incidents in Thane
According to the RDMC of TMC, one case of slab collapse, four cases of tree branch and 15 cases of tree fall, one compound wall collapse were reported throughout the day. A total of 31 places across the city reported waterlogging, causing traffic snarls
Thane: Slab and wall collapses, waterlogging and tree fall incidents were reported in the city after 157.44 mm rainfall on Wednesday.

According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), one case of slab collapse, four cases of tree branch and 15 cases of tree fall, one compound wall collapse were reported throughout the day. A total of 31 places across the city reported waterlogging, causing traffic snarls.
A landslide was reported for the second time in two days on Mumbra bypass road at around 3.30 pm. Relief measures were initiated by the traffic police, RDMC and fire team.
Later at 3.45pm, a slab collapsed in a ground plus three storey building in Reti Bunder of Mumbra. According to the TMC, the building was vacant. The building, however, has been listed as C2 A category by the civic body.
Two parked cars were damaged at Kopat signal after a tree fell on them. No one was injured in the incident. In another tree fall at Nauka vihar, Talaopali, two cars and one autorickshaw were damaged.
The footpath was damaged after a tree was uprooted on Ram Maruti Road. Another tree also collapsed on a car near Masunda lake.
Meanwhile, waterlogging was reported at Vandana Cinema on Ghodbunder road, which led to a heavy traffic jam.
“Most busy areas in the city were waterlogged by afternoon, which led to traffic jams. Moving within the city had become difficult. I was stuck at Ghodbunder for two hours. Later, when I entered the city, waterlogging caused further delay,” Umesh Pawar, 39, a commuter who travels to Vasai for work by car, said.
The city has so far received 463.82 mm of rainfall from January to June this year.
