No bag days for class 6 to 8 students in UP govt schools

Students in government upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh, India, will not carry school bags for 10 days a year. They will be engaged in enrichment activities, including arts, quizzes, sports and vocational crafts, under a blueprint from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). The scheme will be introduced once or twice a month, and could involve visits to historical, cultural and tourist sites, meeting local artists and craftsmen, and learning from local vocational experts. The recommendation to provide school education without bags has been made by the NCERT in Delhi.
