As part of the scheme, the government aims to ensure that no child in the age group of 6-14 years is deprived of education. Under this campaign, awareness programmes, rallies and media publicity will be conducted with the participation of teachers, parents, public representatives and social organisations and regular attendance of students will be ensured along with increasing enrolment in schools.

In the past few years, the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ has played an important role in spreading education. Under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, the aim of the campaign is to ensure 100% enrolment, regular attendance and retention of students.

As part of the programme, awareness through free advertisements in newspapers, hoardings, banners and wall writings will be spread for the promotion of the campaign. Along with this, it has been decided to promote it through local media, social media, cinema halls and local channels.

Under the direction of the district magistrate, the chief development officer, district panchayat raj officer and block level officers will cooperate in making this campaign successful. Before the start of the campaign, a ‘Calendar of Activities’ has been prepared, in which the plan and time limit of all the works has been fixed.

Special attention will be given to the enrolment of girls and they will be motivated towards education through plays and story readings through ‘Meena Manch’. Teachers have been instructed to ensure regular attendance of children and communicate with parents for this.

As part of the campaign, school children who have dropped out from the school will also be identified and enrolled. This survey will be conducted in every village and ward and its objective will be to include every child in school. Divisional, district and block level officials will visit the villages and will also contact the public and parents to increase the enrolment of the campaign, school-wise targets have been set and arrangements have also been made for its monitoring.

Basic education minister Sandeep Singh said, “The government not only believes in providing quality education in the state, but also reduce the dropout rate. With this effort of the state government, it is being ensured that the light of education is lit in every village, every street, every locality of Uttar Pradesh and no child is deprived of school.”
