March ends on a wet note: UP sees 3 times more rain than average

The weatherman has forecast rain/thundershowers in some areas of Lucknow; maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be at 31 and 18 degrees Celsius, respectively

LUCKNOW The state capital received nearly four times more rain than the average in March this year. Against a normal of 7.2mm for the month, the city experienced 27.8mm rain. Likewise, UP received three times more rain than normal this year. Compared to 8.7mm rain, the state received 24.7mm in the third month of the year that kept the maximum temperature in check, said Mohd Danish, Met in-charge, Lucknow.

The weatherman has forecast rain/thundershowers in some areas of Lucknow and maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be 31 and 18 degrees Celsius, respectively. Similar weather conditions are likely at isolated places over the state.

Many parts of UP received showers on Friday with Banda recording 23.4mm rain, Kanpur 18mm, Basti 8mm, Lucknow 7mm, Hamirpur 4mm and Najibabad 3mm.

Lucknowites woke up to overcast conditions and rain. The state capital received 7mm rain between 7am and 8am. Thereafter, it was a sunny and windy day. The weather turned pleasant again in the evening as some parts of the city experienced some rain. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 30 degrees, which was 5.2 degrees below normal.

The change in weather was due to western disturbance as cyclonic circulation now lies over north Pakistan and its neighbourhood. The cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and its neighbourhood now lies over northwest Rajasthan and its neighbourhood and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation over central UP and its neighbourhood extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from April 2 night, said Danish.
