Gurugram: At least four unidentified suspects were booked for allegedly looting a person of a Toyota Fortuner SUV after taking him hostage at gunpoint on MG Road, Gurugram police said on Tuesday.

Police said the incident took place on Saturday night when the driver, identified as Suresh Yadav, was waiting in the SUV just outside the MGF Mall for its owner Praveen Jolly to return.
Investigators said they had come from Delhi and were scheduled to return but a suspect reached the driver and allegedly took him hostage by brandishing a gun. They said at least three more suspects barged into the SUV at the same time and drove away.
As per police, the suspects assaulted Yadav and threw him out of the moving SUV at a secluded place near Chhawla in Delhi, which is at least 18-20 kilometres from the spot where the incident had taken place.
According to investigators, the vehicle was captured in several CCTV cameras while the suspects were escaping towards Delhi.
On a complaint by the driver, an FIR against the four suspects was registered under Section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at DLF Phase-2 police station on Sunday, said police.
Subhash Boken, public relations officer of the Gurugram police, said four teams have been pressed into action to trace the suspects and arrest them at the earliest. “The teams also include our crime branch units. We have some clues and the case will be cracked soon,” he said.
Incidentally, this is the fourth such incident in the city in the last three months where a gang of three to four suspects allegedly stole vehicles after taking the drivers hostage at gunpoint.
On December 28 last year, suspects had looted a driver of a Fortuner from a spot near the Ambience mall when he was waiting for the owner’s wife and children to return. On January 11, suspects had taken a car showroom owner at gunpoint on the Southern Peripheral Road in Sector 71 and looted him of his SUV and mobile phone. On February 15, suspects stole another Fortuner from MG Road after taking its driver hostage and throwing him out near Chhawla in Delhi.
