Father and son kidnap 24-year-old man from Mumbai, demand ransom from family
Suresh Javde and his son Milind planned to kidnap the 24-year-old after Prakash Mohite failed to pay them the interest on a Rs3-lakh loa
The Sewri police have arrested a man and his son for allegedly abducting a 24-year-old man and trying to extort money from his family.

According to the police, Suresh Javde and his son Milind planned to kidnap the 24-year-old after Prakash Mohite failed to pay them the interest on a Rs3-lakh loan, which was taken three years ago. Mohite promised to pay Rs30,000 a month in interest, said the police. He recently failed to pay two monthly instalments owing to financial problems.
An officer attached to Sewri police station said, “Mohite was employed with a warehousing company in Sewri.
On July 29, the father and the son went to his office and demanded the instalments. As Mohite couldn’t give them the amount, they assaulted him and kidnapped him.”
The police said that Mohite was brutally assaulted, taken to Matunga labour camp and kept in a room. Suresh and Milind also threatened to harm Mohite if he failed to hand over his tempo.
“They demanded his tempo in return and gave him their address where the vehicle was to be delivered. Mohite’s brother reported the matter to Sewri police station and a case was registered against the Javdes,” said the officer.
A team was dispatched to the spot and Mohite was rescued.
“He said that despite taking the loan of just Rs3 lakh, he has already paid them around 12 lakh by way of interest, but still the two were harassing and threatening him for more money,” added the officer.
The Javdes have been booked under sections 364 (A) (kidnapping for ransom, etc), 384 (punishment for extortion) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. They were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
