The receding water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has caused damage and chaos at the Nigambodh Ghat cremation facility. The facility has been left with damaged equipment, non-functional hearse vans, missing records, and thick sludge covering the complex. Efforts are underway to clean up the facility, but the losses are expected to be significant. Relatives of people cremated before the closure of the facility have returned to collect the remains, only to find them mixed with sludge. The flood has also caused damage to the newly constructed parking lot and six CNG-based furnaces.
