Portals of Gangotri Dham to open on April 22

The portals of Gangotri Dham will open on Akshaya Tritiya falling on April 22 at 12:35pm. The exact time for the opening of portals was decided on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri on Wednesday at Mukhimath by 108 Gangotri Temple Committee.

Shri 108 Gangotri Temple Committee president Harish Semwal and secretary Suresh Semwal announced the time of the opening of the portals after checking the auspicious time on the almanac.

Suresh Semwal said the programme for the departure of Maa Ganga’s palanquin to Gangotri Dham was also decided.

On April 21, mother Ganga’s Doli will ceremoniously depart from Mukhimath and reach Bhairavnath temple.

On April 22, mother Ganga’s doli from Bhairon Valley will reach Gangotri Dham by 9:30am and on the same day at 12:35pm, the portals of Gangotri Temple will be opened for the devotees.

The portals of Yamunotri will also open on Akshaya Tritiya (April 22).

However, the exact time of the opening of the portals will be decided on the occasion of Yamuna Jayanti, which falls on March 27 this year.

The portals of Badrinath Dham will be opened at 7:10am on April 27, while the portals of Kedarnath Dham will be opened on April 25 at 6:20am for the devotees.

Char Dham Yatra administration special officer/additional commissioner Garhwal Narendra Singh Quiriyal said all departments concerned and district magistrates of Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi have been directed to complete the yatra-related preparations and work by April 15.

Gangotri Dham is located on the right bank of the Bhagirathi at an altitude of 3,140 metres above sea level.
