Delivering the victory speech from the rooftop of his house in Sangrur after the Aam Aadmi Party swept the Punjab elections, Mann said: “My government will first address the issue of unemployment. We will ensure that youngsters don’t have to go to abroad for jobs. Within a month, you will observe changes.”
He referred to the Ukraine crisis and said that he would work for ensuring quality education in the state.
Mann said that he will take oath as chief minister at Khatkar Kalan, the birthplace of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, instead of a ceremony at Raj Bhawan.
“No government office in the state will have the photo of the Punjab CM, but will carry portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr BR Ambedkar. Now the government will be run from villages instead of sitting in Chandigarh offices,” Mann said.
Accompanied by his mother Balwant Kaur, Mann said leaders of other political parties made personal remarks and used “vulgar language” against Kejriwal and him. “The public punished them,” he said, adding, “The elder Badal has lost. Sukhbir is losing, Captain (Amarinder Singh) has also lost. Majithia and Sidhu have lost. Channi has also lost from both seats.” He asked opposition leaders to respect the public.
He said that bureaucrats will be made public servants and they will work for the common man.
Electricity will be provided at economical rates and industry will be revived in the state.
