Mohali: Poor road connectivity to 200 houses drives Sector 106 residents up the wall
Sector 106 RWA president Megha Singh said, “We have met the GMADA chief administrator and other officials over 8-10 times in the past two years. Each time we were promised a solution, but still no work was carried out.”
Residents of nearly 200 houses in Sector 106, Mohali, have voiced their concern over the bad condition of the roads leading to their houses. The residents said despite spending lakhs of rupees on buying properties, they did not have proper roads leading to their houses.
They said one road leading to the houses had not been carpeted for over two years and was full of sludge.
As per the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), out of a 4-km stretch, around 200m stretch, leading to Sector 106, is yet to be completed. Narrating his ordeal, Vishal, a resident of the locality, said, “Visit the place and you would find that the road appears to have been washed away. We either have to cover an extra mile or travel through the broken stretch to reach our houses.”
RWA president Megha Singh said, “We have met the GMADA chief administrator and other officials over 8-10 times in the past two years. Each time we were promised a solution, but still no work was carried out. The problem is compounded during the monsoon season after potholes fill up with water that causes damage to vehicles.”
When contacted, GMADA chief administrator Rajeev Gupta claimed all roads were being maintained and carpeted in a time-bound manner. He said it will be looked into as to why the stretch in Sector 106 was not being carpeted.
Interestingly, Indian cricket team’s opener Shubhman Gill has also bought a piece of land in the same locality, where he is likely to shift soon..
