Nihang’s decomposed body found in Qaumi Insaaf Morcha’s tents at Mohali

The decomposed body of a Nihang was found in one of the tents set up by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha as part of its YPS Chowk blockade, police said on Friday.
The man, aged around 45, is suspected to have died nearly three to four days ago and was discovered by protesters only when the body started emitting foul smell.
They reported the matter to Gurcharan Singh, foster father of Jagtar Singh Hawara, one of the assassins of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, who further alerted the police.
No one went in the tent for the past few days due to rains, the protesters are learnt to have told the police.
DSP Harsimran Singh Bal said the man could not be unidentified. Police found some photographs on his person, but could not find any clues to identify him.
The body has been moved to the mortuary of the Phase-6 civil hospital, where it will remain for 72 hours for identification, before an autopsy is conducted.
The morcha has been protesting at the YPS Chowk since January 7, holding traffic to ransom, seeking release of Sikh prisoners.
