Minister of state of health and family welfare Dr Bharti Pravin Pawar emphasised the need to expand and strengthen research at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) during her visit to the institute on Wednesday.

Dr Pawar had a discussion with faculty and staff at the institute where she shared her vision for the advancement of healthcare services in India.
She suggested that the research conducted at PGIMER should be published in reputable international journals to showcase the impactful work being done in India to the world.
Her discussions were followed by a media interaction, where she highlighted the importance of research and innovation in healthcare, and the role of institutes like PGIMER in achieving this goal.
The minister also chaired a meeting with the departmental heads wherein a detailed presentation regarding the institute was made.
Dr Pawar expressed hope that the new and upcoming satellite centres will help ease the burden on the premier medical institute, which caters to over 10 lakh patients in the outpatient departments, and about one lakh patients in various emergency and inpatient departments annually.
“The establishment of satellite centres will increase the accessibility of healthcareservices to the citizens of the region and also reduce the workload on PGIMER. We will continue to work towards achieving this goal,” said Dr Pawar.
After PGIMER gained global recognition during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Union government is giving more attention to the institute’s research.
