Ludhiana: Miscreants rob AAP MLA’s cousin of ₹4K, FIR filed after 13 days
Balwant Singh Grewal, 68, of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar stated that on March 11 at around 4 am he was going to buy milk from a nearby shop and while returning home he was intercepted by two miscreants near a congregation centre, who asked him to hand over his gold ring to them
Police booked two unidentified assailants for allegedly attacking cousin of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Ludhiana east of ₹4,000 in cash after injuring him.
The FIR for the incident that happened on March 11 was registered on Wednesday.
Balwant Singh Grewal, 68, of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar stated that on March 11 at around 4 am he was going to buy milk from a nearby shop. While returning home he was intercepted by two miscreants near a congregation center, who asked him to hand over his gold ring to them. When he resisted, the accused assaulted him with sharp edged weapons and robbed him of ₹4,000, but failed to rob him of the gold ring, as he raised the alarm.
He reached home and was rushed to hospital. Grewal added that he had informed Tibba police about the incident on the same day.
ASI Mahinder Raj, who is investigating the case, stated that an FIR has been lodged following an investigation. The police have booked unidentified accused under Sections 307 and 3(5) of BNS. A hunt is on for the arrest of the accused.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police Kuldeep Singh Chahal transferred Tibba Police station SHO Bhagatvir Singh to police lines.
