Police on Friday registered a case of attempt to murder against the lawyer who allegedly tried to shoot Morinda sacrilege accused in Ropar court. The case was registered on the complaint of Judicial Magistrate First Class.
The lawyer identified as Sahib Singh on Thursday took out a pistol and pointed at Jasbir Singh, when he was brought to court by police for production. However, police overpowered the advocate.
Jasbir Singh is accused of carrying out the desecration and attacked two ‘granthis’ (Sikh priests) at historical gurdwara in Morinda on Monday.
According to the police, the case was registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms act at the Ropar city police station.
Pawan Kumar, station house officer Ropar police station, said they have produced Sahib Singh in court which sent him to judicial custody.
