Haryana: Junior engineer caught accepting bribe of ₹45,000

Haryana anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has caught a junior engineer (JE) of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) posted at Assandh in Karnal district while allegedly accepting ₹45,000 as bribe from a farmer in lieu of setting up a transformer.
The ACB spokesperson said that accused Balkar Singh has been arrested on the complaint of Randeep Singh of Salwan village in Karnal.
The ACB has, meanwhile, also arrested a patwari, Naveen, posted at Pinana village in Sonepat for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.
The complainant in the case had approached the ACB and alleged that the accused patwari was demanding ₹5,000 in lieu of mutation of land belonging to his family.
The complainant had also recorded the conversation between him and the patwari, said an ACB spokesperson.
A trap was laid and the accused patwari was caught red-handed while accepting ₹5,000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two independent witnesses. The ACB team has recovered the money from the accused, he added.
