Punjab: Floodwater starts receding in Sangrur’s Moonak

Floodwaters in Sangrur's Moonak sub-division in Punjab, India, are receding after four days of raging floods, but many areas are still submerged up to 10 feet underwater, according to officials. The floods affected nearly 94,000 residents in 27 villages and two cities. The floodwater damaged National Highway 52, causing a shortage of essentials in many areas. The road link to Sangrur, Patiala, and cities in Haryana was snapped, while many roads connecting Moonak to other areas have been blocked or dug out by locals to allow floodwater to pass.
