₹122 crore to be spent on upgrade of Phillaur, Jalandhar Cantt railway stations

Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Sushil Kumar Rinku on Sunday said new railway stations in Jalandhar Cantt and Phillaur will further give impetus to economic development of Jalandhar district. He said while Cantt railway station will be given facelift at a cost of ₹98 crore, the Phillaur railway station will be spruced up at a cost of ₹24 crore.

Addressing an event after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across the country via video conferencing, Rinku said it will prove to be a milestone in development of Jalandhar and Phillaur region.

He said with multifaceted development of Jalandhar district, another railway station in vicinity of the city with ultra-modern facilities was need of the hour. He said giving fillip to holistic development of the entire region was need of the hour. He said this will facilitate people by providing state-of-the-art travel facilities to people thereby saving their time, money and energy. He said apart from this, it will also boost economic activity in Jalandhar district.

He said the new upcoming station has been aesthetically designed while keeping in view the needs of common man. He said it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that two railway stations of Jalandhar district, including Phillaur and Jalandhar Cantt, have been covered under the ambitious project.
