State AICC in-charge Rajeev Shukla on Friday lashed out at the BJP stating that nothing happened in the last five years under the BJP’s governance of the civic body and now the party is contesting the Shimla MC elections only in the name of Prime Minister Modi.

He was addressing a joint press conference with chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri and state party chief Pratibha Singh.

Shukla also criticised the BJP for the deteriorating condition of Shimla, which was once the summer capital of the British Raj. He pointed out that the city’s current state is so bad that people are struggling with problems such as water scarcity, traffic congestion, and parking issues.

Shukla said if voted to power, the Congress will resolve the problems related to water, road, traffic and parking in Shimla town.

“Shimla will be given a facelift on the lines of foreign hill stations if the Congress is voted to power,” he said.

Shukla also mentioned that the government was considering investigating corruption during the smart city projects in Shimla. Shukla predicted that people of Shimla will not be swayed by the BJP’s false promises, and the Congress will emerge victorious.
