Nearly three lakh students are appearing for examinations that are being conducted in nearly 188 colleges across Punjab and Chandigarh.

Controller of examinations (CoE) Parvinder Singh said that the first lot of results, of the bachelors in computer application (BCA), would be declared on May 28. Last year, the results of BCA examinations were declared on May 21.

Singh also said all results would be declared by July 3.

“We are trying to keep to the old schedule for results of final year students, many of whom have to appear in various competitive examinations for PG courses,” Singh said.

Many examinations scheduled to be held on April 17, April 18 and April 22, May 5 and May 20, including papers such as sociology, chemistry, business economics, mathematics and English, were rescheduled citing polls and other technical reasons.

While the varsity has doubled the number of evaluators this year, an official said that four or five days were required only to send the papers to the evaluators, which has also been taken into consideration in the varsity’s new results schedule.

“We have squeezed the schedule as much as we could,” said Singh (sic). The last lot of results would be declared on July 3, four days before university and colleges open for the new academic session.

Results for BSc I would be declared on June 17 as opposed to June 14 last year, while BSc II would be declared on June 21, as opposed to its declaration on June 20, 2013. BSc III results would be declared on June 27, same as last year.

The first and second year results of bachelors in commerce and science courses will be the most affected.
While BCom I results, declared on June 4 l as t year, wil l be declared on June 11, BCom II, declared on June 7 last year, will be declared June 10.

However, BCom final year result would be delayed by merely a day, and will be declared on June 7 instead of June 6.

Results for arts subjects will not be delayed. BA III results will be out on June 21, BA II on June 24 and BA I on July 3.

NO DELAY IN PG RESULTS

While the general elections have also af fected postgraduate examinations, Singh said that there would be no delay in declaring their results.. While the PG exams were to be conducted at a stretch from May 23, the exams will be conducted over a period of one month, May 10 and June 14, to accommodate undergraduate examinations.

Results for all PG examinations will be declared by 27 August, with results of 90% examinations being declared by August 20. Nearly 40,000 students will appear for PG exams.
