ICSE class X result: Panchkula boy tops in tricity with 97%

Ronnie Mondal of Little Flower School, Sector 14, Panchkula, has topped the tricity with 97% marks in Class 10 results of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared on Wednesday.

Ten students of the school scored above 95% while 48 scored above 90% out of 133 students who appeared in the Class 10.

“We have been producing good results. I give credit to my teachers,” said Sister Smitha, principal of Little Flower School.

The percentage of students has been calculated by taking their marks in best of five subjects out of 6, while taking English as compulsory subject. This year three students have stood second with 96.8 % marks and two came third with 96.6 %.

The Mondals are natives of West Bengal. Ronnie has been a recipient of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholarship since Class 8.

His father JD Mondal, who was a businessman, died in 2012, while mother Laila Mondal is a housewife.

With 99% marks in Mathematics and Computer Applications, Mondal is pursuing non-medical. “I am yet to decide what I would do,” he said.

The second topper Kishika Goyal scored 100% in Computer applications and 99 each in Mathematics and Science. The vice-head of the school Kishika has also qualified for both state-level volleyball and football games in 2013.

Her father Jatinder Goyal is a businessman and mother Vibha Goyal is a homemaker. Pursuing non-medical, she said her target was IIT. “Along with tuitions, I was studying for 7-8 hours daily,” she added.

Headgirl of Little Flower School Navya Singhal is also second in tricity. Pursuing non-medical now, she scored 100% in computer applications and 97% in Mathematics.

“I studied for six hours daily. I did not take any tuitions. I was focused from the beginning,” she said.

Her father Sanjiv Singhal is a scientist in Semi Conductors Limited, an ISRO lab, in Mohali and her mother Vandana Singhal is bank manager.

Daughter of a Pathologist, Natasha Sachdeva, a student of St. Stephen also shared second spot in tricity. She was excited with her result and said that she aspire to be an doctor.

Headboy of Little Flower School Shubham Mawa is third in tricity with 96.6% marks. Scoring 99% marks each in Mathematics and computer applications, Shubham wants to be an aerospace engineer.

His father Sanjay Mawa is a computer engineer with Modern Steels Limited and mother Usha is a teacher with New India School, Sector 15, Panchkula.

He has been active in extracurricular activities and won second prize in declamation at the school in 2013.

Ishita, a class 10 student of St Xavier’s, Sector 44, Chandigarh, has shared third spot by securing 96.6% marks. Daughter of a banker, Ishita said that she was very happy securing a third spot in the tricity.

“Though one or two right questions could take her percentage up but I am satisfied with my results,” she said.

She is pursuing her medical studies now. Malvi Paul of St Xavier’s High School, SAS Nagar secured fourth position in tricity with 96.4% marks. She is happy with her performance.

Similarly, Avantika of Yadvindra Public School, SAS Nagar secured fifth spot in tricity with 96.2%.
