HT: What challenges you see after taking over the top post?
GK:
The biggest is to connect the young generation to Sikh thought and tenets. We need to have educated granthis and ragis in gurdwaras, who are able to propagate Sikh values in a better way.

HT: What will be the priorities of the new committee?
GK:
The foremost is to implement the Nanakshahi calendar, which the committee under Paramjit Singh Sarna was not doing. It confused the Sikh masses, as the community in Delhi was made to commemorate Gurparbs on separate dates from outside. There is a need to be more transparent and weed out corruption. The quality of education in the DSGMC-run schools also needs to improve. We will take up the case for the rehabilitation of the people affected in the 1984 riots and fight their legal battle in courts.

HT: What efforts do you propose to make your party shed the tag of not fulfilling the aspirations of the Sikh masses?
GK:
It's not true. The mandate of Delhi Sikhs has proved that they are with our party and we work for their cause. There are clear instructions from our party that we should take up Sikh issues effectively.
