Computer Science Phd offered Rs 10 lakh annual package

The New Delhi regional centre of Lovely Professional University has offered a Panjab University Phd scholar in Computer Sciences an annual salary of Rs 9.6 lakh per annum at the just-concluded placement fair, Avsar of the university.

In the humanities stream, an English postgraduate student has been offered Rs 3. 6 lakh per annum, again by LPU.

More than 80% of the Panajb University students who participated in the three-day drive have been shortlisted by 40-odd companies.
PU had decided that companies offering less than Rs 2.5 lakh for undergraduate students and `3 lakh for post graduate students would not be allowed to participate in the placement process.

Officials admitted that there was low participation of students, and some norms were relaxed.

"Of those students who participated, in the three-days, 381 have been shortlisted by various companies. 68 have been issued offer letters," an official said.

In the departmental placement drives organised by respective departments, nearly 800 students of the university have already bagged job offers. The highest job offer recorded in that was too to an UIET student of Rs 7.5 lakh per annum.
