Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Janata Dal (United) leaders Sharad Yadav and KC Tyagi attended the public meeting held at Sadar Bazaar.
However, Sunday’s rally was studded with political bloopers. The Lok Dal family seemed to direct their address mostly against Prime Minister Narendra Modi than any other party or leader.
Yadav interestingly praised the contributions of former Haryana CM Rao Birender Singh, who was a Congress leader and father of sitting Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit of the BJP.
“It has been four months since the new government was formed at the Centre but unlike the former PM, who never spoke, the current PM keeps talking without any action. He believes in good oration but in Haryana there is no sign of any improvement,” said Yadav.
Kumar, who had severed alliance with the BJP after Narendra Modi was declared BJP’s PM candidate, emphasised on the unification of the Janata Dal family. “All parties related to the Janata Dal are coming together as these are dark times for the Indian democracy. The PM made several promises but as I see in Bihar, nothing has been done in the past four months,” said Nitish Kumar.
The crowd dissipated as Gowda began addressing the crowd in English. He said that the CBI cannot be blamed for the haste in sending senior INLD leaders to prison as they always act according the Union government’s whims.
