Actor Anupam Kher has hit out at actor Gul Panag for making some unsavoury remarks about his wife, actor Kirron Kher’s age. Gul and Kirron are both contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Chandigarh.

While Gul is fighting on an Aam Admi Party (AAP) ticket, Kirron is the Bhartiya Janta Dal (BJP) candidate.
And, even before the political battle, a Twitter battle had unfolded between the two of them.
On Thursday, Gul, 35, had tweeted, “Doubt if I’ll have the energy to run around like this and serve my people, when I’m 60. I guess that’s why there’s normally a retirement age.”
In a strong reply to Gul’s tweet, Kirron Kher had tweeted, “My father is 101 years old and still happening. He said, ‘Good Luck Puttar. You have Always been winner.’ For me, life starts at 60.” And it’s not just Kirron herself, even her husband, actor Anupam Kher, has reacted sharply to Gul’s comments.

Kher, who was in the Capital to promote his upcoming film, Gang of Ghosts, said that the remark was a subtle way of trying to discredit her for being a 60-year-old lady. “I think her (Gul’s) parents must be a little above 60, is her take on her parents like that? Is her take like that on everybody above 60?,” he said. However, he also explained, “Gul is a colleague.
But even Lord Krishna told Arjun that during a war, you must take a side. So, I will take Kirron’s side.”
Ask him what he thinks of the political contest between Gul and Kirron being referred to as the ‘war of dimples’ and pat comes a candid reply: “As far as dimples are concerned, I think I was always attracted to Kirron’s dimples.” When we contacted Gul, she said, “I am absolutely shocked. That tweet was about myself. Not about anyone else. The tweet was about my stamina, not Kirron ji’s.
I have the utmost respect for her. She is like my mother. And this is not a clash of individuals, it’s a clash between ideologies. I was the first one to congratulate Kirron ji when her candidature was announced.”
