About 1,200 students from tricity register for CBSE’s aptitude test

Around 1,200 students of Class 10 from the tricity have registered for the fifth edition of the Student Global Aptitude Index (SGAI) test, organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). SGAI is an aptitude test to be conducted in CBSE-affiliated schools in the country — which have opted for the test — from December 8 to 20.

This test has been designed to help students choose their stream in Class 11. The CBSE has received a total of 1.8 lakh registrations for the test from the country.

For the first time, the test will be conducted online and students can take the test on their school campus. The CBSE will also conduct the test offline, as some schools might not have internet connections or either have unreliable internet connections.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the test online, the board has taken certain measures. “Each school will designate a SGAI coordinator to act as an interface between the board and the students,” read an official circular.

The circular further read: “During the entire period of the assessment, email and telephonic support, and online chat will be provided to every school coordinator so that he or she can assist the participants.”

RJ Khanderao, CBSE regional officer, Panchkula, said: “It is a great initiative by the CBSE as students need to know their aptitude and area of interest.

10% increase in registrations

About 6 lakh students from across the country appeared for the test in the last four years. When compared to 2013, there has been a 10% increase in registrations with the CBSE receiving a total of 1.8 lakh registrations, of which 1,200 are from the tricity.
