Even as the fight intensifies at Tata Sons, Tata Group companies including Tata Motors, Tata Steel, TCS have already registered for final placements across the IITs and IIMs.

While a Tata Sons spokesperson said that it is “an employer of choice at these premier institutes”, mails to the individual Tata Group companies remain unanswered as we go to press.

“Internal tussle has not had any translation on the campus placements, at least for our campus. TCS, Tata Motors and Tata Steel have already registered with us for our campus placements this year,” said Bhavya Kapoor, placement officer, IIM Indore. “It is too early to comment about this situation’s impact on campus placements and we feel it is not going to have any impact as such.”

At IIT Madras too, Tata Motors has already registered for the placements and any impact is unlikely to be felt, said Professor Manu Santhanam, training and placement advisor.

TCS and Tata Motors have already registered at IIT Guwahati, confirmed Professor Kaustubha Mohanty, head, Centre for Career Development. At IIT Kharagpur, Tata Steel, TCS and Tata Motors have registered.

Explaining the situation, Professor Janat Shah, director, IIM Udaipur said: “HR areas are fairly structured at matured organisations like Tata Group. The issue in the group raises corporate governance issues, which aren’t related to hiring.”

The final placements at IITs and IIMs are set to start from December onwards. Tata Group companies are a prominent recruiter at these institutes.
