Respectful or regressive: Ayushmann Khurrana Brunch story stirs up a controversy
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana revealed that his younger brother Aparshakti and his wife touch his feet out of respect, which has evoked strong reactions
The Brunch cover story yesterday (10 Things Grown Men Will Always Fight About) has led to an interesting debate on traditional values in a fast-progressing society like ours. While brothers Ayushmann and Aparshakti opened up on the things they often clash, albeit light-heartedly about, the younger Khurrana also confessed that he and his wife Aakriti touch Ayushmann and their bhabhi Tahira’s feet, a tradition that finds its roots in the idea of respecting your elders.

“Unbelievable as it may seem, there are no devrani-jethani ki kahaniyaan in our family. We’re quite traditional. And what Aparshakti and Aakriti do is unreal in this day and age, as I don’t know too many people who do this,” Ayushmann asserted. Aparshakti had added that conventions such as these left hardly any room for conflict within the family.
Some may think the practice, in keeping with Indian values, is deeply respectful while others may find it regressive. Which side are you on?
