"Always sweat the small stuff," "care what others think," and "don't visualize success" are some of the lessons readers can expect to reap, as well as accounts of life in space, with Hadfield narrating the audiobook version himself.

Hadfield, now retired, shot to fame in May with his performance of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," captured aboard the International Space Station, and uploaded to YouTube as his expedition concluded.

As well as earning 16.5 million views for his music video, the Canadian has also acculumated 1 million Twitter followers (@Cmdr_Hadfield). Even before his musical fame, Hadfield had been posting photos of the Earth to his blog (colchrishadfield.tumblr.com), conducting Q&As, and advocating for the space station's scientific merit.

"Chris has a delightful capacity to bring home the fascinating details of what it takes to be an astronaut and what it's like to live in microgravity, and then to dig deeper into all the surprising training and lessons learned that help him, and the whole astronaut corps, do the impossible as if it's another day at work" said Anne Collins of publisher Knopf Random Canada.

"On top of that, he might be the best witness we've ever had to the wonders of space, the fragility and beauty of our planet, and the necessity to keep pushing the envelope of space exploration."
