‘Why didn’t Swara ma’am ask me to delete the video right there?’

We have all seen the flash video of the guy who “trolled” actor Swara Bhasker saying #AyegaTohModiHi. He tells us all about the incident and also says if Swara had a problem with that 5-second video, she should have asked him to delete it immediately.

It isn’t his music that has made musician V Ranjha a sort of an overnight sensation on the social media. It is a five-second video with actor Swara Bhasker, that has made him popular. For the uninitiated, the 30-year-old musician shot a video with the Nil Battey Sannata actor, in which he is seen telling the actor, “Ma’am, ayega toh Modi hi”. Well, everyone is well-aware that Swara’s not really an admirer of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Musician V Ranjha insists he didn’t trick Swara Bhasker into taking that selfie/video.

Swara reposted that video on her Twitter profile accusing him of tricking her into shooting the video. Swara, who has been quite vocal in her criticism of the Modi, slammed the musician for using “tacky & underhand tactics”.

Now, in an exclusive interview, the man who identifies himself as V Ranjha says that he “didn’t ever plan” or “trick” Swara into doing this “Snap Story”, which is posted on social media platform Snapchat. He says that he spotted the actor at the Delhi airport and approached her with his request.

“I wanted to take a snap story, and I asked her, ‘ma’am can I take a snap story with you’. Now, a snap story could either be a video or a photo. It was in that moment that I ended up saying ‘Modi Ji Hi Aayenge’, because she criticizes him a lot, and I, on the other hand, don’t agree with her political views. And, to be honest, I just wanted to share this video of me trolling her with my few friends and not the world, but my friend Mickey decided to post it on Twitter, which then caught her attention as well, she tweeted about it and it got noticed by people quickly,” he says. The friend posted the video captioning it “Epic beizzati” and had also tagged the actor’s Twitter account.

“But unhone itna faltu mein bola — That I have tricked her and used underhand tactics. I really don’t get this as to why did she say underhand tactics and all,” says Ranjha.

The Delhi-based musician adds that while he has had no problem with the attention the video has received, he does feel bad that Swara decided to post it on Twitter, and didn’t ask him to delete the video right then. “It was an airport. She could have easily called the police or the security or simply told me to delete it. I don’t understand why she didn’t do that, and instead decided to repost my friend’s tweet,” he says.

However, Ranjha says he is a big fan of Swara’s work and has no hatred for her. “I really like Swara ma’am’s work. I have seen her film Tanu Weds Manu four times in a theatre. It’s just that her political views do not match mine. I don’t have any ill intentions or hate for her,” he adds cheekily, “Maybe it is karma that got her.”
