Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande have been in a relationship for the last seven years, but it’s not just their personal lives that they discuss. Sushant says that since Ankita is also an actor, her opinion of his work is something he takes very seriously.

"She’s always honest and upfront. And even before she says something, I can figure out what she feels. What she says is very important to me. Not because she’s my girlfriend, but because somehow I’ve convinced myself that whatever Ankita says is right," says Sushant, adding that his girlfriend is one of his "litmus tests".

However, media speculation about their impending marriage often overshadows other things that they do, sometimes even news about their professional pursuits. Doesn’t the media intrusion bother them? Sushant says that, as actors, they can’t complain. He explains, "It’s not wrong. We have to see the other aspect as well. The media needs to come up with something interesting every day, right? So, obviously, they will ask us such questions. We have chosen such a life and we shouldn’t complain."

The actor also adds that as long as the line isn’t crossed, it’s not a problem as such. "As for me, I will be the last person to complain about it because I don’t really give interviews and I’m mostly absconding. Also, like the media has the right to ask questions, we have the right, too, to not answer them."

With his next ready for release this week, ask Sushant what his take on the censor board’s new guidelines is, and he says that while on the one hand, they’re wrong to demand unnecessary cuts, on the other, you can’t entirely blame them. "I’ll give you 10 logical reasons for why they’re wrong and vice versa. Yes, freedom of expression is a fundamental right, and this is how I express, and you’re nobody to tell me how to express. But, at the same time, we also have to see that as actors, we do affect people and their lives. I take myself as an example," says Sushant, explaining that while studying back in the day, he never had ambitions of becoming an actor or even entering the industry, but even then, every time he used to watch a film, it used to affect him in some capacity or the other.
