Urvashi Rautela makes sure that her songs have nothing offensive or downgrading

Not one to go on film-signing sprees, Urvashi Rautela believes in being a part of quality content. She has been a
part of just four Hindi films since making her Bollywood debut in 2013 with Singh Saab the Great.

“I believe in quality over quantity. All the roles I have done so far have been different from each other and that’s how I want to keep it. I want to experiment, that is why I only sign the movies I believe in,” says the actor, who was last seen in Hate Story 4 earlier this year.

Urvashi has also been seen in quite a few dance numbers in films and dance videos. She says that she has very clear criteria while giving her nod to these songs that sometimes tend to objectify women. “I make it a point to listen to a song before being a part of it to ensure that there is nothing offensive or downgrading. When I signed Love Dose with Yo Yo Honey Singh, I heard the song and got hooked to it,” says the actor, who was seen in Daddy Mummy in Bhaag Johnny (2015).

Urvashi’s performance in the song Haseeno Ka Deewana (Kaabil, 2017), which was a remake of an
old iconic song from Yaarana (1981) received a lot of appreciation. How easy is it to recreate an old classic? “There was a lot of pressure while performing such a cult classic, because there is always comparison between the two versions. I feel, as an actor, everyone should be prepared for comparison as it is inevitable,” she says.
