Indra Kumar reacts to Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘filth’ remark against Total Dhamaal
Director Indra Kumar has reacted to Tigmanshu Dhulia’s negative comments against his film, Total Dhamaal.
Total Dhamaal director Indra Kumar has responded to filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s comments, in which he slammed the comedy and called it ‘filth’.

Indra told Zoom that he came to know about Tigmanshu’s statement from... and said, “That’s his perception. I can’t go and change his views about a film.” He said that he can’t control how people perceive his films, and there are many who liked Total Dhamaal. “I respect his opinion and judgement. Usko nahin samajh mein aaya toh somewhere it must have hurt his sensibilities,” he added.
Tigmanshu had said in an interview to PTI, “The taste of the general audience, including the middle class and the upper middle class, has deteriorated drastically.” Giving an example of Dada Kondke, Tigmanshu had said, “There used to be a director called Dada Kondke, who was a super hit filmmaker. All his films used to do really well but they were watched by the frontbenchers, the labour class. No one from the respectable family used to go and watch those films. Now suddenly you see these Dhamaals and all these films, whose trailers itself have so much trash, filth, earn ₹200 crore. That means they are being watched by the multiplex audience.”
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh updated the box office figures of the film on Twitter on Tuesday. “TotalDhamaal continues to fare best in mass circuits... Inches closer towards ₹150 cr... [Week 3] Fri 1.70 cr, Sat 2.76 cr, Sun 3.95 cr, Mon 1.40 cr. Total: ₹142.41 cr. India biz... #Overseas total: $ 6.22 mn [ ₹43.32 cr], wonderful. Best in USA+Canada [crossed $ 2 mn],” he tweeted.
Total Dhamaal stars Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Esha Gupta, Riteish Deshmukh, Johnny Lever, Javed Jaffrey, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Sanjai Mishra and others.
