That day when I say pack up isn’t far: Suniel Shetty
After acting for over three decades, Suniel Shetty says that is now getting close to giving up the glamour and glitz for other things in life
Known to be the quintessential action hero in the early 90s when he made his debut, Suniel Shetty progressed to playing different kind of roles – comic, villainous or romantic. However, since 2012, he started doing fewer films and decided to take a sabbatical. After a four year break, the actor is now back to the small screen as a host of a show. However, he says that the urge to be in films isn’t as strong anymore.
“I am very passionate about being in the industry. Now my kids (Athiya and Ahan Shetty) are also here and I am grateful for the love and adulation. But I don’t think I have it in me to do what it takes anymore. I will produce films for my children but only when something worthwhile comes up. But as far as acting is concerned, that day when I say pack up isn’t too far. I started working way too early so now I would like to spend more time with my family,” says Suniel.
His father passed away last month and the actor says that his death taught him that one needs to prioritise family. “For so many years, Mana (Shetty, wife) has seen me work but now I want to completely get away. I have been in that state of mind for a while where I want to travel and relax. I am sure that at some point, every actor will say that ‘this is enough’. I think I am headed in that direction. Also, there is too much pressure these days from every quarter including social media. And sometimes, that can get a bit too much to handle,” he says.
