Tension brewing between Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali over Laila Majnu?
While Ekta Kapoor is the producer of Laila Majnu, Imtiaz Ali is the presenter of the film.
Not everything is well between Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali, at least this is what reports suggest. There are creative differences between the two over the promotional strategy of Laila Majnu. While Ekta is the producer of the film, Imtiaz is its presenter. Directed by Sajid Ali, Laila Majnu is the modern day adaptation of the mythical love story.

Mid-Day has quoted a source saying, “Ekta and Imtiaz have been meeting frequently to brainstorm about the best possible way to promote the love saga. Their sensibilities are as different as chalk and cheese. Ekta feels they should opt for a marketing blitzkrieg while Imtiaz wants low-key promotions.”
The source further said, “Since it’s a modern-day retelling of Laila and Majnu, Imtiaz feels the love saga should grow on people instead of being promoted heavily. But, Ekta is keen on going all out with the publicity, especially since the movie has newcomers in the lead.”
This is not the first time Ekta’s name has cropped up in deciding a film’s promotional strategy. If reports are to be believed then she had asked Milan Luthria to reshoot the climax of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.
Laila Majnu stars Tripti Dimri, Mir Sarwar and Avinash Tiwary in important roles.
Earlier, at the time of teaser release, Imtiaz had said in a statement, “Laila Majnu is an eternal story of everlasting love. It’s perhaps the most popular love story of all times. For the film we wanted a fresh approach in all aspects -- a fresh cast, a fresh script and a fresh setting. We had a great experience making the film and can’t wait to showcase it to the world.”
Laila Majnu will hit the screens in August, 2018.
