Sultan is the highest opener of 2016 with Rs 36.54 crore

At Rs 36.54 crore, Sultan is second only to Prem Ratan Dhan Pao, another Salman film that earned Rs 40.35 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the box office numbers on Thursday, day two of the film.
The movie, that co-stars Anushka Sharma, is followed by Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan with Rs 19.20 crore and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3 with Rs 15.21 crore.
Akshay’s Airlift and Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi come next on the list with Rs 12.35 crore and Rs 11.94 crore respectively.

In Sultan, Salman is seen playing a Haryanvi wrestler -- a first time for the actor -- who struggles to get back in the ring. Anushka plays his love interest while Randeep Hooda and Amit Sadh back them up in pivotal roles.
Directed by Abbas Ali Zafar, Sultan was made on an estimated budget of Rs 90 crore and released worldwide on Wednesday to coincide with Eid.
