Actor Sujata Kumar, who died on August 19 after battling cancer for many years, was cremated in Vile Parle on Monday. The last rites were conducted by the later actor’s sister Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and daughter Kritika.
Pictures from the ceremony show Suchitra and Kritika going through the various stages of the cremation ceremony.

Sujata, who featured in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish as late Sridevi’s elder sister and later in Anil Kapoor’s TV serial 24, was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006. She put up a tough fight against the dreaded disease for many years. However, with fourth stage cancer that had metastasized, the actor suffered multiple organ failure and died on Sunday.

A day after Sujata Kumar’s death, a video of a TEDx Talk she delivered in May resurfaced. It was, perhaps, last of her public appearances. Called ‘How to filter emotional pollutants from your life’, the TEDxBocconiUMumbai talk delivered by Sujata is a powerful message and a study of the human mind.
In her career, Sujata had also done few TV serials like Hotel Kingston (Star One) and Bombay Talking (Zee Cafe). In 24, she appeared as Meghna Singhania. Sujata also starred in Karan Johar’s Gori Tere Pyar Mein and Aanand L Rai’s Raanjhanaa, both in 2013, and was a popular face in TV commercials.
