Sharman Joshi explains why he constantly stays in touch with stage and films through his work

Actors often speak about how balancing work on stage and screen is not easy. However, Sharman Joshi is one of those who is doing it efficiently. According to the actor, what drives him is his love for theatre as it’s also the medium from where he started his journey as an actor.

“Theatre is where I come from, where all of it had begun… I had done theatres for many years before foraying into cinema. So I was in a way prepared for everything when I entered the industry... Now that I have done both, I have understood both the media fairly well, have also learnt to balance both,” says Sharman, who is known for his Bollywood films such as Style (2001), Rang De Basanti (2006), Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012) and 3 Storeys.

Talking further about balancing both the media, the actor adds, “What I do is I give one or two months to a film, and after I finish shooting for the film, I start working on theatre and prepare for upcoming performances. And then in between, I get back to films for a few months. If I am shooting for films on weekdays, on weekends I perform on stage,” he adds.

Sharman will be seen next in two films, Kaashi in Search of Gangaa (psychological thriller) and Babloo Bachelor (romcom).

“The tagline in Search of Gangaa is quite metaphorical. The narrative is layered at many levels. Babloo Bachelor, on the other hand, is about this guy, who is not being able to get married,” he adds.
