Shahid Kapoor has shared a new poster for the upcoming film Kabir Singh. See it here.

Actor Shahid Kapoor has shared a new poster of his upcoming film, Kabir Singh, a remake of hit Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. Unlike the previous poster, which showed Shahid’s character in silhouette, the new poster reveals his entire face.

Shahid captioned the Instagram post with a tease of how long fans have to wait till the film is released. “Kabir Singh out in two months,” the actor wrote. The new poster shows Shahid with an intense look on his face, dark glasses over his eyes, and smoke swirling around him.

The actor plays a surgeon whose life unravels after a bad breakup. The character then ends up in a spiral of drugs and alcohol. The poster shows what appears to be cigarette smoke and white powder around Shahid’s face. In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Shahid said, “I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day. It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children.”

The film’s first teaser was released earlier this month, and provided fans with a glimpse of the intense tone of the film, which also stars Kiara Advani in a prominent role. Shahid announced the conclusion of filming shortly after the teaser’s release.

Speaking about the making the film, the actor had told IANS, “I am having a great time. I think Kabir Singh is very special and Arjun Reddy was amazing. As such it’s very stressful making the remake, especially when it has been loved so much.”

The original film was a surprise box office hit, starring Vijay Deverakonda. Director Sandeep Vanga returns to helm the remake, as well.

Shahid is coming off the box office disappointment Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which was directed by Shree Narayan Singh, and dealt with similar social themes as his previous directorial effort, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The film could only manage 66 crore at the box office, against a reported budget of 50 crore.

Shahid is currently enjoying some time off in London with his wife Mira Rajput, and has shared social media updates for fans.
