Nothing entertains more than watching someone getting conned - one person outsmarting unsuspecting victims and doing a disappearing act in no time. With the release of starrer , we look at 10 best con films made in India.

Sathuranga Vettai (2014)

Sathuranga Vettai is a Tamil film based on six real-life cases of people getting swindled. Natarajan Subramaniam's character (Gandhi Babu) goes about executing scam after scam, sometimes promising people a 50 percent discount on purchase of gold from a certain jeweller to selling tap water as mineral water that cures cancer, each episode getting funnier than the one before.

Mr Fraud (2014)

This Mohanlal starrer, as the name suggests, had the act of conning at its core. Mohanlal is a technically-sound con artist, a smart Alec who can get away from the trickiest of situations with his booty intact. Thus, we see Mohanlal posing as rapper at a wedding only to rob the family of a neat Rs 100 crores, which is the girl's dowry! At another time, he gatecrashes into a palace of erstwhile royals who are fighting over the family's wealth as a qualified evaluator of the valuables only to whisk away much of the goodies.

Special 26 (2013)

This Akshay Kumar film is a perfect fit for a con film. It is based on a real-life heist on March 19, 1987 where a group posing as CBI officers executed an income tax raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film shows Akshay Kumar and his gang go about not only stealing a high profile jewellery brand but also end up fooling the police department.

Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011)

In yet another film based on the con theme, we see Ricky Bahl (Ranveer Singh) conning not one but three ladies in different cases. In time, the girls (Parineeti Chopra, Dippanita Sharma and Aditi Sharma) exact their revenge by conning him using Anushka Sharma as the bait.

Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye! (2008)

Based on the life of con man from Delhi's Vikaspuri area, Devinder Singh, Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye! had the art of conning written all over. Abhay Deol starring as Lucky in a titular role sets the ball rolling as his character steals cars, TVs, jewellery, shirts, dogs and god alone knows what else from all over India.

Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006)

A classic con act film, here's a tale of a harassed Delhi family who's only plot of land has been illegally occupied by a local goon. All attempts to rest plot from their 'occupiers' fail. That's when a plot is hatched in which they sell a government land at an astronomical sum to the same guys who have occupied their plot! Conning the wicked never felt better!

Bunty Aur Babli (2005)

One of the biggest hits in 2005, this Shaad Ali directed film admirably presents the con tale about two lovable crooks who go through a number of adventures including selling a fake Taj Mahal to a gullible tourist. Loosely inspired from American film Bonnie and Clyde, the film Indianises the plot with ease.

Bluffmaster (2005)

This film is loosely inspired in parts by Argentinian film Nine Queens and Criminals. Abhishek Bachchan, a terminally-ill con man must con the whimsical and ruthless Chandru (Nana Patekar). He does this for his lackey Dittu (Riteish Deshmukh) who has an axe to grind against Chandru. Does he manage to do so?

Aankhen (2002)

The Vipul Shah directed film has an honest bank officer played by Amitabh Bachchan turn a con man after his job is unfairly terminated by the bank where he works. With a burning desire to get even with the bank, Bachchan's character takes the help of three blind men (played by Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal) to rob the bank of its riches. What happens will take you by surprise as the con man gets conned.

Do Chor (1972)

Marrying con tale with romance is the yesteryears hit film, Do Chor starring Dharmendra and Tanuja. The Mumbai Police is boggled by a spate of robberies from wealthy men in Mumbai, where in the con artist takes just one piece of jewellery leaving a calling card with swastika imprint on it. Fingers point to local thief Tony (Dharmendra) but he pleads not guilty. While trying to figure out who's doing these robberies, he discovers that it's a girl (Tanuja) called Sandhya who's been doing these acts.

Jewel Thief (1967)

Here's yet another classic where Dev Anand (Vinay), son of police office and otherwise an upright citizen, is accused of being a thief who steals previous jewels. It so happens that there is someone who is impersonating him and is actually is a look-a-like. Does Dev Anand get to unravel the mystery? Well, as audience get to know the real con man isn't Dev Anand or his look-a-like but Ashok Kumar.
