Laila Majnu trailer: Imtiaz Ali brings back the tragic love story with more screaming, more hills

Here is a story nobody needed another retelling of. The trailer for producer Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu takes you on a journey of a couple madly in love as they fight their parents, scream their lungs out and quite possibly, trip on ‘shrooms.

The trailer begins with Tripti Dimri as Laila, the flirty new woman in town, and Avinash Tiwary as Kais, the man who wishes to take advantage of that. A bit of healthy stalking later, the man gets the woman to sing and dance with him around rivers and trees until her papa decides to crush the romance.

The lovers are separated and he turns into a hermit. His teeth turn yellow, his hair turns shaggy and he is seen looking suspiciously at a patch of grass. Soon after, we see him dreaming of his lover in an angelic white dress. Must be some grass.

Written and directed by Sajid Ali, the film was slated to release on August 24, will now hit the big screens on September 7 this year.
