I would love to be part of a dance reality show: Ananya Chatterjee

It's a shade difficult to believe but actor Ananya Chatterjee, who won the National Award for Rituparno Ghosh's 2010 film Abohoman, has just one film in her kitty. The newlywed actor, who recently attended an event accompanied by her husband, Raj Banerjee, will soon be seen in Sekhar Das' Bengali film Jogajog where she plays Shyamasundari, the widow of Madhusudan's elder brother. The film is based on Rabindranath Tagore's novel of the same name.

Given that a number of filmmakers in Tollywood are experimenting with new subjects, Ananya doesn't have much work on her hand at present. However, the actor, who has impressed both the audience and critics with her performances in Bengali films such as Laptop, Meghe Dhaka Tara, Dwando and Jodi Love Dile Na Prane, isn't perturbed. "This is life. There are ups and downs. At times, there's so much work that we have to let go some films and at times we don't get enough offers. But I feel I have balanced life to a certain extent with both work and no work. At present, I am enjoying my personal life," says Ananya, as she breaks into a peal of laughter. It goes without saying that the actress is enjoying her marital life to the hilt. She posed with her husband for the shutterbugs and blushed every time someone came up to her and wished her a happy married life.

Ananya has always been known to be selective. Now that she is married, will she be even more cautious about the films she does? "As always I will choose my films with care. I will keep doing the kind of work I have been doing. If I get meaty roles, I would definitely do them. I am reading two scripts. Hopefully I will start something new soon," says the actor.

The actor, who also left a lasting impression in the minds of the audience with her performance in the Bengali television show Subarnalata a few years ago, is open to do reality shows too. "It was a landmark show. I don't see doing any fiction show on TV now but I would love to be part of a dance reality show. I love dancing and I am fond of singing too," says the Teen Kanya actress.

However, she expresses her concern over the release of Sohini Dasgupta's debut independent Hindi film, Chhoti Moti Batein, which also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee and Kulbhushan Kharbanda and was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) last year. "It's going to be difficult to release the film in Kolkata. The film is travelling to other festivals now. It's based on a true story. I know the film has surreal elements but if the audience patiently watches the film, I am sure they are going to like it," she says.
