In an interview with a popular magazine, the 34-year-old star disclosed that it was not until his films began doing bad that he realised “I had taken my success for granted.”

Ranbir Kapoor, who recently starred in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil after a short hiatus, opened up about failure, success and its importance.

In an interview with a popular magazine, the 34-year-old star disclosed that it was not until his films began doing bad that he realised “I had taken my success for granted.”

“When my films were doing well, I was praised, raised to the skies. I was given adjectives like ‘superstar’, ‘next superstar’. When you don’t do well, you have to face the brickbats also,” he told to Filmfare.

“It gave me a chance to understand where my life was going. Maybe, also realise that I had taken my success for granted. I didn’t enjoy it when it happened. Now, when it returns, maybe I’ll enjoy it more, understand it more,” he added.

Saying that there is no such thing as “formula” in acting, the Tamasha star took full ownership of his movies like Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet that did not do very well at the box office.

“These are my mistakes and I take full ownership of them. I believed in them. But they went wrong. That’s it,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rockstar actor is looking forward to getting redeemed with his latest performance in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.

“I feel the pressure with ADHM because of the baggage I’m carrying, of the perception of my films not doing well. I’ve lost so much money at the box-office. A hit film, a profitable film, will give me relief, an out-of-jail feel after which I can work in peace,” he revealed.
