‘I don’t judge people who are in item numbers’
Says Athiya Shetty as she talks about being a part of a new music video and why doing it was a good decision
Her last release was Mubarakan and now Athiya Shetty is back on screen in a special appearance. Recently, a song titled ‘Tere naal nachna’ which was choreographed by Remo D’Souza in which she features with Badshah, was released from Nawabzaade. Talking about it, she says, “Sometimes, things just fall into your lap. You look back and try to figure out how it all happened and you never know. That’s the beauty of it. I loved working with Remo sir and I am a huge fan of Badshah and his music.”

Talking about why she chose to be a part of the number, she says, “I love music and I think the Indian film industry is known for its music. We can attach music to every emotion. Also, I love dancing. I find it to be therapeutic and it’s something that I have always been passionate about. I am not a trained dancer but I had so much fun in this song that it makes you want to get up and dance.”
While a lot of actors refuse to be a part of item numbers, Athiya says never say never. “I feel like it depends on whether I am comfortable. I don’t judge people who are in item numbers. It will be extremely hypocritical of me to do that because I am dancing on those very numbers at a sangeet or at a party. So, I think that judgement is not right. If a person is comfortable doing it, it’s their decision to make. If it makes you happy and confident, then why not? I don’t see anything wrong in that,” she says.
And when she isn’t shooting, she is cheering for her favourite teams at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. “I love football. My brother Ahan is a football fanatic so I think it’s a way our family bonds. We sit and watch the matches together. I want Croatia to win because I am all for the underdog. I love England and I was heartbroken when Belgium lost but now I am rooting for Croatia. At home, we have been watching the matches together and it’s great when we are rooting for different teams because then it gets really heated. It’s no fun when everyone is supporting the same team,” she adds.
