Himesh Reshammiya granted divorce from wife Komal, after being married for 22 years

Musician-actor Himesh Reshammiya and his wife of 22 years, Komal, have been granted divorce by the Bombay High Court. The couple, who have a teenage son Swayam, had been living separately for quite some time, until they filed for divorce by mutual consent in December last year. “Mutual respect is the most important thing in life. Giving due respect to our relationship, Komal and I have decided to part ways amicably,” the 43-year-old had said at that time. The judgement was passed on Tuesday evening.

Speculations are rife that the Aashiq Banaya Aapne singer’s relationship with actor Sonia Kapoor, who has acted in TV serials like Kittie Party and Remix, lead to the breakdown of the marriage.

However, Komal refuted such claims. “Himesh and I completely respect each other and are jointly going ahead with this decision to part ways. But, mutual respect will always be there for us as I am a part of his family and will always be, and the same stands for him towards my family. There are compatibility issues in our marriage but we respect each other immensely. Nobody else should be dragged into this matter and nobody else is responsible for this. And, the reason for our marriage not working is only and only compatibility. Sonia is not responsible for this at all and our son Swayam and our family loves Sonia just like a family member,” she had told Mid-Day.
