Father-to-be Neil Nitin Mukesh has a 50-year-old old cot ready for his baby

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh recently put up a cute Instagram post to announce that he and his wife Rukmini Sahay are expecting their first child together. The baby is expected later this year, and the family has started preparations to welcome their bundle of joy. Neil, who married Rukmini in February 2017, tells us that they are preparing a cot which has been in their family for almost the last 50 years.

“We have a cot which has been passed down for generations; it has been with us for 50 years. From my aunts to my father and me, it has gone through every child in the family. We keep changing its linen and toys, and keep renovating it. We will pick up stuff for the cot and some basic clothes for the baby,” says Neil, who is shooting for Saaho in Abu Dhabi, where his wife, too, has joined him.

“This schedule was dedicated to some baby shopping. It’s a 45-day schedule, and after this, Rukmini won’t be able to travel. So, she came along so that she could spend quality time with me,” says the actor.

Rukmini gave Neil the happy news two days before his birthday in January, and he says it is the best birthday gift he could have ever wanted.

The actor, whose last film was Golmaal Again (2017), has already made adjustments to his schedule so he can spend maximum time with his wife during the pregnancy.

“I was supposed to be shooting somewhere away from Mumbai after this, but we have changed the location and come closer to Mumbai. It won’t be difficult to travel back and forth from home. But I had already made commitments for September, October, and November, and that is exactly the time when the baby will be here. I will try my best to be around Rukmini as much as I can,” says the actor.

Neil is convinced that he’s going to be a hands on father as he has enough experience with kids.

“My brother is 10 years younger than me and my sister’s kids are also fond of me. So, I am pretty good with kids and I hope I make for a good father as well,” he says.
