Don’t moderate account, ok with compliments and abuses: Big B

With around 40 million followers on social media and almost daily updates on all his social networking sites, one would expect Amitabh Bachchan to be a highly tech-savvy person. However, the actor thinks otherwise.

“I don’t think I am tech-savvy but I would like to be. Every day, there is a new invention that comes up and it’s wonderful. Sometimes, you wonder how one could survive 40 years ago when we didn’t have all these forms of communication. But, you have to keep up with the times and be in line with technology,” he says.

Interestingly, the actor announced the birth of his granddaughter Aaradhya (Abhishek and Aishwarya’s daughter) in 2011 on Twitter. However, he’s very particular about what he shares online. “Not everything personal is always conveyed on social media. If I think the birth of my granddaughter is an important enough occasion for me to announce, I will, but if I am asked what she ate for lunch, I am not going to answer that,” he says.

However, no celebrity is spared on these sites. So, what does he think about the unflattering comments and brickbats from followers one has to face on social media? Very often, actors have to face the brunt of technology. However, Big B is ok with negative feedback. “I don’t moderate my account so there are both compliments and abuses, but honestly, I am okay with that. Nobody is perfect, I am not perfect and sometimes it’s good to know what people think. Maybe, I do need to improve,” he reasons.

Recently, it was announced that his granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda (daughter of Shweta and Nikhil Nanda) will be making her debut at the prestigious Bal des Débutantes, a ball in Paris that features girls aged between 16 and 22 from illustrious families. The girls turn up in customised couture ensembles and take on the dance floor with their fathers and do a waltz. However, Bachchan says he will not be able to make it. “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the event. But, we are all extremely proud of her. It is a proud moment for the family,” he says.
